The hull, though simple in its nature, requires complex calculations to achieve the desired weight and buoyancy. It was essential that our hull be stable enough to allow field testing on Lake Waban and to resist torques applied to the boat by its spraying system. We also wanted the boat to move quickly and be highly maneuverable. While this factor is directly affected by the pumps and electronics, the craftsmanship of the hull also plays a huge role. To do this we calculated hull statics and dynamics to ensure that the boat floats stably and can turn within a reasonable radius. Even the propulsion system was matched appropriately to the hull's size.
