Hydraulics comes into play with our turret mechanism. Our goal was to implement a system where both pumps could be used to propel the boat but water could be rerouted to feed the turret. While we originally planned to use solenoid valves, they simply did not allow for enough flow rate. These solenoid valves were instead replaced with pinch valves which clamp a hose forcing water to flow upward through the system to the turret. It was also important that our hose be able to sweep left and right so that we could aim the pumps without having to reposition the entire boat.
