Adhesives

The outlet of the pump is sized for 1 inch tubing, but, as irrigation tubing is too rigid and requires too much space for the boat, we decided to alter the outlet to interface with half inch tubing. We did this by adhering half of a reducing coupling to the pump outlet. This proved to be a challenging task, as we discovered that most adhesives do not bond ABS to PVC. After attempting to use Crazy Glue, PVC Cement, JB Quik Weld and West System epoxy, we settled on 3M 5200 Marine Adhesive Sealant. We employed some JB Quik Weld to hold the couplings in place during the curing. Additional adhesive was applied to the connection as needed, to result in a leak-free hydraulics system.
